Flirting

Today, while Liam was taking a nap, Silas and I had a little flirting time together on the bed. Nothing like those first smiles.....and laughs.

New School

Liam just started his new school - the Cottage School - and is having a great first week. Here are a few pictures from this morning. It is a beautiful, timber framed one-room school house.

Is that a doll turned into a gun? Probably....

Teacher Amy. I think the camera cord is in the photo....whoops.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend, I took the boys out to Cypress to see our friends, the Todds. We spent one night and Liam got to catch up with his friends, Drew and Ben.

Hart's Pass

We took an "epic" hike (wink, wink to Kev and Gitta) during our stay in the Methow. It was 42 degrees when we reached our ridge walk hike and we even got a little hail along the way. Liam was a trooper (with a little parental cajoling) and we caught some great views.

Brisk wind!

Brown's Farm

In the Methow, we stayed at Brown's Farm - a great cabin between Winthrop and Mazama. It was perfect for our two families. If only we had a couple more days....

Hiking

While Kevin and Gitta were visiting, we took a trip east of the mountains to the Methow Valley, one of our favorite spots. We took two hikes. Here are a few shots from the first hike - to Blue Lake, in the Cascade Mountains.

These are a little out of order....here Silas has his "snack" at the end of the trail.

More fun with friends

Our camera doesn't do justice to how beautiful the view is from our cabin on a summer day with Mt. Baker in the distance.

Kevin and Gitta, Sam and Jack come to visit!

Last week, our dear friends, Kevin and Gitta, and their kids, Sam (almost 4 yrs) and Jack (1 yr), came to visit all the way from Maine. Right after they arrived, some other old college friends of Gabe's joined in for an overnight at Guemes. Above, Gabe and his friend, Mike, take the "under 7" crew out for a row.

How to pick blackberries....

First: Have a good attitude! Blackberry picking is fun!

Second: Be stealthy! Keep your eyes peeled for the perfect berry.

Third: Go for the sweet ones at the very top! Stretch your arms!

Reach!!!

Lastly: Don't forget to thank your aunties.

Farm Camp and Sleepy Time

Liam and his friend, Atticus, went to "Farm Camp" last week where they made scarecrows, harvested veggies and made food, and played with animals. It was also a blissful little break for mommy :)

Love...from the relatives

Baby Silas is almost 10 weeks old! Mid-August was busy with friends and family and lots of time at Guemes. Here are a few photos of Silas being....loved.
