Work and Play

Two weekends ago, we went out to Cypress to help with some "spring chores". Liam enjoyed a very low tide, stomping on the clam holes and making them squirt.

Sandy, muddy, mud.

We had some wood to stack, and Liam did his part to help.

Moving that woodpile alongside Daddy.

Look at those muscles....and that tummy! :)

Walking with dinosaurs!

Wow....my blog entries are few and far between these days! Last weekend, Liam and Daddy went to Seattle (just the boys) to see Walking with Dinosaurs at the Seattle Center. It was a very special day for Liam (I mean, how often do you get to see dinosaurs walking around....BIG dinosaurs!!!). Here is Liam waiting for the performance to begin.

After the performance, Liam and Daddy had a little lunch out by the fountain. Fries and dinos......doesn't get much better than that!

More pictures from Oregon

Oops, these are a little out of order. The Easter Bunny visited Redmond early this year! We had an egg hunt mid-week and it was fun to see the boys dash about. Here is a picture of Liam, after the hunt, eating one of his treat-filled eggs.

Liam and Calvin hunt for eggs around the backyard.

Earlier that morning, Calvin and Liam dye eggs in anticipation for the egg hunt.

Emma and I got away (just the mamas) for a morning hike this week. I was giddy from the sun and dry, sage-filled air. We hiked around Smith Rock and watched the rock climbers on the face. It felt great to get out on the trail and have a couple of hours to ourselves to catch up. Boy, I don't take these times for granted anymore! Thanks for a great week, Emma and Ethan!

Old friends.

Juniper Grove Goat Farm

While we were in Redmond, we visited a local goat farm, where they make cheese and sell goat milk. The farmer is a friend of Emma's and it was great fun to play with the "spring babies". Here, Liam and I meet "Wilma", who runs around the farm as she pleases. Liam is a big fan of Charlotte's Web, so he was quite thrilled to meet Wilma (who looks just like baby Wilbur).

Liam extends his sleeve so the babies can nibble.

The baby goats.

Calvin and Wilma become acquainted.

Calvin and Liam enjoy the kids.

Spring break in Oregon

Here are some more pictures from our spring break trip to Oregon this past week. Here, Liam and Calvin are busy with playdough.

Playing with dinosaurs in the dirt. Doesn't get much better than this.....eh?

There is a great canyon near Emma's house where the boys enjoyed riding their bikes and we spent time exploring and climbing rocks.

Calvin and Liam getting ready to ride....

Cool little men.

Good friends

This past week, Liam and I drove down to Redmond, OR (near Bend), where our dear friends, Emma, Ethan, Calvin and little Bliss live. It was my spring break from work, so Liam and I spent the week hanging out in the high desert and enjoying time together. Calvin and Liam played well together all week and have a similar energy and humor. It was (tireless) fun!

Dinosaurs were a big theme this week for the boys, as was naked time...running around naked, taking baths....oh the stories we mamas will able to share when they are older :). Here, Liam and Calvin enjoy bathtime together....with dinosaurs, of course.

Liam and Calvin and their little easter bunnies.

Silly time....

....good 'ol three year old humor!

A week (or month) in review....

March was a long month - lots of rain, gray days and time inside (as well as blustery days at the park). Here are a few photos from the past few weeks.

Liam and Mommy work on a printmaking project.

Liam taking a moments rest during his swim class. It was great to be able to watch from the side now that he has graduated to the "Preschool Swim" level.

I found Liam giving this plant a "haircut". Which, actually, was OK because it is an old narcissus that was finished. Let's hope he doesn't try this on any friends!

Weekend photos

This looks a little morbid, but Liam decided to mimic Tahoe who was stretched out taking a nap.

Our dear friend, Brigid, and her dog, Ridley came to stay with us over the weekend. Here, Liam has a little morning cuddle and read with Brigid, while Tahoe stays close by.

Brigid had the great idea of using some old(er) hazelnuts and making homeade Nutella! It tasted so good. Here, Liam and Brigid peel the toasted hazelnuts in preparation.

More peeling....

...a weekend walk to the waterfront at low tide.

A few photos from the week...

"In like a Lion".......we welcomed March (or rather, said goodbye to February), with snow! We woke up Thursday morning to about 5 inches of white, powdery snow and cold weather. It caused school delays (yeah!) and Liam enjoyed romping while it lasted.

Our backyard that morning....

The next day...still enjoying the snow in the sunshine. It was all gone by Friday afternoon.

Art time.

Little artist at work.

The Platform

There is an amazing platform on some public land, just above our beach on Cypress Island. I love to come here in the morning or evening and do yoga. These pictures are from a little "hike" that Liam and I took to the platform during our last Cypress visit. We brought "provisions" (as Pooh Bear would say) and took a little rest atop the platform. Behind Liam, you can see Strawberry Island and the tip of Blakely Island.

Liam enjoys his graham cracker.

Looking out.....

Evening light from the hilltop - sitting on the platform.

Winter sunshine

Here is Liam lounging in the sun at Cypress having lunch on the deck. Notice the wool socks and hat...it is not yet spring, but we Northwesterners really know how to enjoy the sun...rare as it is!

Checking out what the sock has picked up.....

Mmmmm......apples and peanut butter.
