The tree

It took a little while to find the "perfect tree". Having two oldest children for parents can sometimes be "trying". Liam had fun stomping around in puddles and pointing out trees that he liked.

We found one! Gabe gets down to business, while Liam and our friend, Katura look on and give moral support.

Getting closer....

Yep, you got it, Dad! Good angle.

TIMBER!!!! Yeah!

Christmas tree anyone?

We spent this past Saturday with three other families looking for our Christmas tree. It was wet, but spirits were high as we headed into the Cascades to cut our tree. Liam brought his own saw. We had a great time "hunting".

December is here.....

Gabe stretches a lot because of his back. So, it is no wonder that Liam has started stretching too. Here they are (on the kitchen floor) stretching together.

Taking care of those legs!

When Liam was born, my mom and our dear friend, Heidi, gave us a locally made willow basket. Liam spent his first few months, taking naps in this sweet basket. We just pulled it out of storage at my mom's house and Liam was enjoying some cozy time back in his first little bed.

It is a little more snug than I remember...

That's better.

Workin' boy!

It is partly a survival tactic, and partly because it makes Liam so happy, but Liam likes/needs to be outside and "working"....regardless of the weather. It is only a matter of time before either Gabe or I (or Liam) is saying, "OK! Time to go outside!" Here are a couple pictures of Liam during a rainy weekend at Guemes, "helping" us with some yardwork. This is his newest tool - his "hoe". When we asked him the name of his hoe, he said, "Reuben" (his darling Uncle). Not sure Reuben would like being called Liam's "Ho/hoe".

Liam gets ready to go outside and move some soggy seaweed!

Pulling the boat line in for the winter.

Tangled!

A few more fall pictures

These pictures are from the week of Halloween. Liam and his preschool class visited a pumpkin farm. One of the BIG treats of the day, was a ride in this contraption above....the "train". Not only was it pulled by a tractor (big thrill!), but each little car had a steering wheel (also a thrill). Liam could hardly contain himself. The funny thing was that the farmer driving the tractor may have had even more fun than the kids. He obviously enjoys this part of his job! Here are a couple shots from the day.

Liam in his "ride".
After the train ride, the kids got to ride in a wagon (pulled by yet another tractor - way cool!) out to the pumpkin field. Really...does it get any better than this for a little boy???

With the time change, it seems as though we have more evening time to read and cuddle. I love this time - it is one of the few times when Liam will actually sit still (sort-of).....

Wow - by the looks of my face, you would think we were reading a thriller novel. But actually, we are just wrapped up in Boo and Baa and their adventure. How will they solve their dilemma?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We just returned from a fun potluck with friends and then trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. We couldn't stop laughing as our "band" of wee ones ran from house to house - what a crew! Here are a few pictures of our little sheep (thanks to about 5 bags of cotton balls!). Liam still managed to get in a lot of "ROARS!!" this evening...no quiet sheep here!

The loot!

Slumber party

Last weekend, we had our friend Lori and her two kids, Sonni (3) and Angus (10 months) out to spend the night at Guemes. It was crazy, loud fun for two days. The two boys ran each other into the ground (and nearly their parents as well!). Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Sonni and Liam enjoy some lunch.

Movin' logs (a favorite local pastime).

Each year, a group of islanders put together these great "ghosts" that sit on the beach by the ferry dock. They blow in the wind and weather for the month of October. Liam and Sonni enjoyed climbing around the ghosts while playing on the beach.

Liam climbing - looks like he is getting a pat on the back from one of the "ghosties" (as Liam calls them).

A fall hike

We went to Guemes Island last weekend to do some fall clean-up and winter preparation on the cabin. Saturday morning dawned sunny and we headed up Mount Guemes for a little fall hike. Our Aunt Holiday joined us and shared some of her naturalist knowledge (it is always great to have a elementary school science teacher on hand!)

Liam surveys the land.

Liam...not wanting to let go of my hand for the picture...

Liam and Holiday share a moment.

Liam and Holiday get down close and look at the local fauna...a banana slug.

Our little conductor

We found this "train conductor's" hat at a local consignment shop. Liam models his latest costume accessory. We are all about dressing up these days as Halloween approaches.

How about this side?

And this???

Silly Mama......silly Liam

More birthday...presents from Italia!

My parents have been traveling in Italy these past few weeks and on Liam's birthday, a couple presents arrived (via Aunt Perrin) from Noni and Grandpa in Italy. Liam was pretty excited.

Cool matching t-shirts for the soccer stars...

...and an apron for Mama???? Yeah, that sounds about right! :)

Liam plays with the stickers that Auntie Lu sent him. Thanks for all the great gifts everyone!

Pumpkin party....

Liam turns 3 on the 15th and we had his birthday party this past weekend. Luckily, it was a beautiful, crisp day...perfect for pumpkin picking. We all met at a friend's pumpkin farm in Mount Vernon. Here, the kids check out the pumpkins - picking their favorite styles....

...then we grab carts and head out to the fields. What a crew!

The pumpkin patch...or rather, field....

Our friends, Karl, Tommy and Stella look around for the perfect pumpkin to take home.

And...you know it....Liam spent the entire time running around the field...too excited to ever really focus on picking a pumpkin. (But I found three great ones!)
